Giveaway: Got imagination? We’ve got Martha.

Kids are constantly making up stories and asking the most thought-provoking questions. My own daughter can spin one whopper of a good yarn and consistently recounts dreams so wild that I find myself wondering if there was some kind of mind-altering substance in her mac-n-cheese. She makes up whole casts of characters and sends them on elaborate adventures that easily rival many of today’s blockbuster movie plots. I love listening to her tales because they let me see the world through her eyes. It’s a heck of a lot more interesting that way.

In last week’s post, we told you how it was an imaginative question, asked by her then seven year-old son, which inspired Susan Meddaugh to create the Martha character who is now the star of six books and her very own PBS KIDS show, Martha Speaks.

Today it’s your turn, or rather your kids’ turn, to shine. In collaboration with the Martha Speaks team at WGBH and Susan Meddaugh we are excited to announce a fabulous Martha Speaks giveaway that includes a signed copy of the original Martha Speaks book, a Martha Says It With Flowers DVD (includes 8 episodes), a Martha Says It With Flowers TV tie-in book, and Martha plush beanie. 1. My soon to be 4 year old told me a BIG story last night about creepy cabbages of all things. Complete with people with cabbage heads, and leafy cabbage hands.
    Such a big imagination!!!!!

  2. From Will, 7 years old: “Mom, if you went into the woods and came across a burning oil pit? What would you do?”

HUH!??? Where do they get this stuff? LOL! :)

  3. Our 2 1/2 year old sat down one day and sighed.I asked what was wrong he told me he was exhausted and he needed to sit down and have a break..where do we think he heard that from?
I am a stay at home mom to two boys 32 months and 11 months

  4. “Boys are made of meat and girls are made of plastic, right mom?” -Spencer age 4

  5. Our 8 year old daughter told us “The gum companies should make bacon flavored gum because it’s my favorite food!” She makes me giggle each & every day! We are so Blessed to have such creative, thinking kids!

  6. When my husband deployed to Iraq, my then 2 year old daughter was concerned he would be cold because he didn’t pack any of his “civilian” clothing. After I explained to her he had to wear uniforms at all times, she then began exploring the idea that Daddy traveled via camel. He even sent her a stuffed camel when he heard. =)

  7. My daughter doesn’t understand why we can’t give our dog ABC soup. She says: ” Then he can come to school with me and be my book buddy! My teacher won’t mind. She likes dogs.”

  8. I have 3 daughters, who have very wild imaginations! But the one who has the wildest would be my 5 year old. When we go to the store, she needs to hold the cart or my hand, because the tiles on the floor is water, and she can only survive if she holds on to something! LOL My 8 year old says if she steps on cracks on the street or sidewalks (or tiles) that the world will split in 2! LOL So yes, I am kept on my toes 24/7!

  9. My son is almost 4 years old and once he hit 3 his imagination soared. He acts out everything he reads or watches. We have been Super WHY characters, Clifford, The Imagination Movers, Mickey Mouse, you name it we’ve been it. He creates his own costumes with whatever he finds lying around the house. He loves Toy Story so he often takes his toy drill and pretends it is a laser gun while Daddy pretends to be Zurg. After watching the nutcracker we made a crown and pretended to be the Nutcracker Prince and the Big King Mouse while having sword fights with foam swords. The same occurs when playing Peter Pan and “Wicked” Captain Hook. I am looking for a drama class for him!! Always a fun time around my house. After a bought of allergy/cold, we had to pretend to be Mucinex and Zyrtec! LOL

  10. “Mommy, I am a child only girls can be adults.”
Keagan age 3 1/2 years (Boy)

  11. My daughter Joanna is 3 1/2 and makes up some real whoppers! She tells great “Scout and Ari” stories starring our dog and cat. Somehow, the cat is always crazy and wanting to do something it shouldn’t, and the dog is always the long-ignored voice of reason. Together they journey to the beach, the playground, and wherever else Jo’s imagination sends them. Every night after I read her bedtime story, she has to tell me a “Scout and Ari” story.

  12. My 5 yr old, Jordan asked me if I knew I was going to have a super-hero as a baby?I didn’t understand the question at first even though he wears his spider-man,iron-man and batman suits EVERYDAY.He told me that I was pretty special to give birth to the next super-hero.I said”Yes,I am very lucky to have a very special super-hero for a son”!!!His response was”well yeah mom,who do you think is gonna save the world,Scooby Doo”?????I can always count on my big guy for a laugh!!!

  13. My 18 month old daughter LOVES Martha!!! She even has a stuffed dog that looks just like her, and of course, her name is MARTHA! I love that the show actually uses extensive vocabulary and explains it. I have a BA in English, so that is something that I really like about the program.

  14. My son had been complaining for weeks about his leg hurting. So finally we relented that it wasn’t growing pain (as physician had suggested over a phone call) and made an appointment. When it was his turn, he got up walked into the hallway, stepped on the scale, then walked into the assigned room, and sat down without saying a word. When the doctor came in she started talking to him and upon asking what he was doing when his leg started to hurt he very calmy replied “I was walking on the moon looking for salamanders”. This is among many things he has expressed that have been alittle tall. But by far the most impressive.

  15. my kids come up with some crazy stuff i love it here is a couple things

my 7years old asked me the other morning do they use cats for cat scans ?
he had thought that they take a raquet and put the cat on it and scan ppl and the cat meows when they find something
my 2 year old told me a story of the blue monsters that live in the trees
kids have the best story’s :)

  16. My daughter loves this show. Shes not quite two yet but gets so excited when she sees the show is on, although she calls Martha “Aubry” the name of our dog. Lol all dogs are Aubry according to her

  17. My almost 4yr old son has had his imaginary friend Jamie for about 2yrs now, Jamie lives underground sometimes, other times Jamie lives in Texas all by himself( Jamie is the same age as my son). In every Jamie adventure, he is always allowed to eat candy for all his meals, unlike my son :) , he stays up all night playing and watching tv, unlike my son, he has his own monster truck he drives all by himself. I always look forward to hearing about Jamie’s adventures, especially since my son gets so excited when he’s telling me about them :)

  18. One beautiful spring day, my 8 year old son and I were looking up at the clouds. Angelo said ” look mom, & pointed to the clouds. ” There is a mom (that’s you) and a little boy (that’s me) and you see that cloud over there, that is Chucky E Cheese, and that small shape inside the cloud that is the Deal or no deal game. Hmmm I think someone was hinting….But the shapes did look like people and a building.

  19. I asked my 3 year old daughter what we should get Daddy for Valentine’s day and she told me that we should get him a gas card!! We had 4 different people start chuckling in the greeting card aisle at Walmart!!

  20. My 4 year old started preschool this past fall and was very nervous about playing with boys. So one day before she started school, she asked me, “Mom, what if the boys build a big castle with blocks, stick me inside and then lock it with a key and I can’t get out?”
I assured her this wouldn’t happen and that she would have lots of girls to play with at school too. She then told me “I know…all of us girls will build a castle put all the boys inside and lock it, so they can’t get out”

P.S. My 4 year old LOVES Martha Speaks!!

  21. When my older daughter was 3, if she got in trouble or was having an off day, she would tell me that she wasn’t Morgan, she was Megan-Morgan’s bad twin…I used to be annoyed when she would say that to get out of trouble, but now I think it’s a cute memory!

She also had an imaginary friend when she was between 1 1/2 and 2…It was a blue flying … See Morefrog. One day she told me it got away, so I reached up and grabbed it. When I “handed” it to her, she said, “Mama, this isn’t my frog…It’s someone else’s!” and she let it go!

  22. My 3 year old tried on her new leg warmers from her Aunt and when I asked how she likes them she stated “It feels like bears are tackling me”.

  23. My daughter when she was 4 told me she figured out the easter bunny isnt real. I was devastated that there would be no more childhood fun and annoyed wondering which of the older children told her. I asked her why she believed the Easter Bunny is not real and her reasoning was because Easter baskets are sold in walmart and pets are not allowed in the store so the Easter Bunny was really Santa Claus wearing a costume!

  24. My daughter takes her baby sister (a doll in a stroller) to the grocery store (the living room) everyday! She always makes a list of the things they need to get. She is currently putting a toy hat on my head telling me not to drop it. She is 3 and a half and I can barely keep up with her!

  25. After explaining a little about what happened in Haiti to my sweet 4 yr old, she says to me ‘I wish I was a super hero so I can go save those people’ …I love her and her beautiful mind.

  26. My 6 y/o son asked me about his pregnant aunt….
“how does the baby breathe in there?” I love these intelligent kinds of questions!

  27. our 3 year old is so funny and imaginative, he loves to play pretend with his big brother; the other day they were being ninjas. Our older son said “you are my sidekick” and our 3 year old cheerfully said “I’m a good sidekick watch!” and proceeded to kick his leg out to the side. I love that when he heard the new word, his creative mind just figured out what it “must” mean. Wrong or not, it made perfect sense and we have been asking to see his “side kick” ever since :)

thank you for the opportunity to win this wonderful prize. We are big fans of Martha and “Fans Of Being A Mom”!!

  28. Both my 4 and 3 year old have the wildest imaginations that I have ever seen. Back when my 4 year old started preschool I spent a whole morning driving around our city because my 3 year old had decided that we should go to Diego land and had been talking about it for a week. I finally decided to give in and drove him to a park we do not go to that often telling him we were at Diego land. He kept telling me that it was not Diego land and describing what it was suppose to look like. He then got out a book and told me it was a map to Diego land and I was to follow it to get there. How do you tell such a determined and packed child no? I then drove all over trying to find Diegoland and did not suceed. When we pulled up in the driveway after our adventure he proudly announced that we were there. He tehn spent the rest of the day in the backyard playing at DiegoLand.

  29. when my daughter was 3 she told me that a huge dinosaur was roaming the neighborhood (where her babysitter lives) and it was eating all the houses and little girls. Maggie (our babysitter) had to hurry up and run inside and hide them in the basement while her daughter hurried home from work to chase teh dinosaur away so it wouldnt eat anymore kids. She also has been to the moon several times and visited with the aliens that live there!

  30. My soon to be three year daughter, Emma, likes to tell us stories at the dinner table. She starts off classic, “Once upon a time”, then she just get wild with it. The other evening the next sentence was “tiny princesses living under our couch”. I love dinner time!!

  31. Ps We love Martha Speaks. We watch everyday!

  32. My 3 yr old son, almost 4 in a couple weeks said to me this morning, “Mom your a Superhero sometimes” I said “Sometimes?” He said “Yep, when you do good things for us!” What a cutie!

  33. Zarinna is 3 years old and she loves to “read” books to her sister. She was “reading” her sister a story about monsters. I guess she decided it was too scary at our house so, we started crying to go to Grandma’s house. When crying didn’t work she calmed down, and thought up a plan. A few minutes later she said, “Momma, Santa said I can go to Grandma’s.” I was so shocked that Santa was talking to her in February that I decided to let her go to Grandma’s.

  34. When my daughter was about 4 she had an imaginary friend named “Scratcha” who had long claws and fought bad guys. She had other “friends” join them along the way and would discuss them over the phone with my mother. One day I overheard her telling my mother she could get her own imaginary friends if she’d like. All she had to do was go to the playground, they usually liked to hang around the slide but sometimes they would go to the swings too. You had to talk to them before you brought them home though because not all imaginary friends are nice. She would know the nice ones because they’d ask her to play games with them.

  35. My kids love Martha. We have three year old twins.

  36. My son Steven Jr who is 3 and a half has always had such a vivid imagination he can create stories and characters and have my husband and I play them out with him. Recently he had us put on nerf vest and use the the nerf guns and pretend we are secret ninjas on a “mission” to save the Earth there are green darts and orange darts the green ones have ice crystals that freeze you and the orange ones are lava ones that burn you. so he takes his stuffed animals and places them around the house and we have to find them and thwart their plan to take over their world. We enjoy his logic and crazy concoctions he devises and he is just so creative and the words he says we have no idea where he hears them and puts them into stories and makes sense it amazes us and he often entertains our family and friends and they find him and his stories very captivating and fun.

  37. My now 26 year old son could tell a whopper or two when he was small. One day I went to pick him up from kindergarten and his teacher puuled me aside to say she was so sorry to hear about the death of my husband, my childs father. O f course I was dumbfounded because my husband was perfectly well but my son had spun an elaborate tale of when and how he had died. There were many more stories to follow over the years!

  38. My 6 year old will look into the cd player slot while the radio is on and say “Are there tiny people in there playing music?”I try to explain that no,its a radio station and the sound travels through air waves, etc. But she is insistant,”No,there is a tiny band in there with tiny instuments. They live in there and have really tiny couches and a tiny lamp…” and on and on! Its very cute!

  39. My 3 year old loves trains and he has started giving us train names…he will stand in front of me or daddy, saying “YOu’ve broken your brakes! I’ve got to connect the couplings!”…he will then grab onto our pant legs and chug us throughout the house…one day I was wearing shorts instead of long pants and while doing this, my son reached back to “connect the couplings” and said “You forgot to put on your pants!”

  40. My 2yo loves music and often sings along. She usually picks up on the lyrics and sings what she knows. I’m not sure if it’s her sense of humor or selective hearing but she only sings the “and speaks and speaks and speaks and speaks” part of the theme song.

  41. The other night at dinner my 4 year old daughter told us a story about how I was walking down the street and got caught in a dirty bubble. The dirty bubble carried me away so I screamed for her to help me. She said she ran over and popped the bubble and saved me. Then she said that Daddy walked over and got caught in a dirty bubble. He yelled for someone to save him so her brother ran over and popped the bubble saving him. She said that we all walked to the beach after that. :) She is always coming up with cute and imaginative stories. Usually they involve a princess (her) and prince (her brother) a knight (her Daddy) and a mean witch (me). Yeah, I’m always the mean witch. :) She also recently asked where babies come from and how they get out. When she found out she proceeded to tell her entire preschool class!! Yeah, that was a fun day. We love Martha Speaks here. It’s one of her favorite shows.

  42. I am hoping by exposing my son to books & PBS programming that he will have the same love of learning that I had from the same..

  43. My 2 1/2 yr old son has an amazing imagination and a pretty big vocabulary. He was painting one day and he told me that he was panting “a gate that mommy could walk through” – and then he went off on this very elaborate story, wide eyed and completely serious – “and THEN a big big green froggie ate mommy up, and then it spit you out. And THEN, ANOTHER big big green froggie ate Meema and Beepaw (grandparents). and that froggie spit them out too. and then we told the froggies -No- No! ” This is one of MANY stories that he makes up.
One other day he told me that we had to be REALLY quiet because there were dinosaurs in our house, and we had to go find them. We then spent a good 20 mins hunting for dinosaurs.

  44. Martha Speaks is one of our favorites, My 5 year old and 3 year old love her. My son, 5, thinks we should give our 11 month old alphabet soup to help her learn to talk faster.

  45. We love Martha Speaks – it’s smart and clever and wonderfully tolerable for even parents to watch. My 3 y/o looooves it!

  46. Our son, age 4, has the most vivid imagination. He named his hands when he was barely 2. The left hand is Baba and the right hand is Sasa. He acts out stories and makes them “fight” each other when he is bored and having to sit quietly. The other day, during a car ride, he said “Hey, Mommy and Daddy, I’ve got a great idea! Tomorrow, let’s all dress up like super heroes and go help people!”. My husband and I think Baba and Sasa must be in on this! ;o)

  47. my daughter after watching martha speaks likes to go around making our pets speak…she wants to feed them alphabet soup so they can speak too.

  48. Yesterday I brought my 20 month old daughter to the doctors office. We were in the waiting room and she was sitting at a little table with a 4 year old girl who was pretending that the table was filled with lots of food. The girl kept telling my daughter here eat this cookie and look at that yummy thing. Since my daughter hasn’t quite got the hang of the pretend thing she kept looking under the table and chairs for all the food. When she couldn’t find any she would just look at me and shrug her shoulders. The other mom and I were laughing so hard.

  49. My daughter is 6 years old and she told me this morning “Mom, I had the funniest dream last night! I dreamed and that Daddy and I were standing on the top of a rainbow and we were looking down at you. You were nervous and told us to get down! But Daddy and I were having fun so we stayed up there!”

  50. My 8 year old daughter goes around all day with a notebook and says she is writing her next song…then she goes around singing them…some of them are really good…maybe I have the next Hannah Montana in the making!

  51. My 18 month old LOVES Martha. He dances to the theme music. Its sooo cute

  52. After seeing Punxsutawney Phil and Staten Island Chuck (the groundhogs for PA and Staten Island) on tv on Groundhogs Day give different “opinions” about the continuation or end of winter asked, “If Pennsylvania’s groundhog says 6 more weeks of winter and Staten Island’s groundhog says spring is coming, what is going to happen in Brooklyn? When will winter end???”

  53. My little Savannah who is 4 pretends her dog stuffed animal is Martha.
She leashes her up and takes her all around town. Even when I took the girls to get there pictures taken at Target. Martha is in the pictures. I would love to email this picture. Dog, collar and leash with a little girl and a Big Imagination that I love. I hear her say “Martha it’s time to listen.”

  54. On our drive to school, my daughter asked me “Mommy, when Mamaw was little did she have a school to go to?” I answered, “yes, why?” Then she said “Well, way back then the Pilgrims didn’t have schools to go only one room houses, and they wrote on little chalk boards because they didn’t have paper, did Mamaw have paper?”

  55. My 5 year old loves Martha Speaks. She want to try to feed her grandmas dog alphabet soup to see if he will talk. We all think it is so funny!

  56. I love the wonderful vocabulary that is presented in this show. I am constantly surprised by the new words that my 3 year old and 5 year old pop into their conversations.

  57. My 3 year old has been watching Martha for awhile and loves it! Her little brother(15 mo) is really starting to enjoy it to! My 3 yr. old loves learning new words with Martha…It is a great educational show…she is learning and doesn’t even realize it because she enjoys the show so much!

  58. My 4 year old was tucking her “Bear Bear” in for quiet time when he “asked” for a nap song. Always willing to oblige the whims of her stuffed white bear, little M.E. sang “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” When she got to the part that should go “with angelic host proclaim” she sang “then the jello house boats sang Christ is born in Bethlehem.” M.E. and Bear Bear were none the wiser but mom grinned ear to ear and held back tears of joy and laughter until the quiet time routine was finished.

  59. My now five year old makes up stories about her brother. She was an only child untill the summer of last year. She’s been telling us about her brother since she was three. They have so many adventures, once they rode on a train across the country and sleep in a big open field with cows watching over them. And another time they were in a garden and her brother ate a really hot pepper and steam shot out of his ears and eyes! They’ve been to Ireland, and Florida. Now she has a little sister,8months old and she will sit and tell the baby about her Brother and her adventures. She is so funny she talks about them like they really happened, and remembers the details and the stories and wants me to retell her the stories and she gets really upset if I can’t remember the stories the way she tells me. I need to start writting them down.

  60. My 2 1/2 year old son and 3 1/2 year old daughter have vivid imaginations. They are building a new city hall near their daycare, so I started going a different way to drop them off so that they can see the Earth movers and construction workers in the morning. The new site is near a small pond. The other day after we drove by the building site, I said to them, “Look at all those geese at the pond.” My son said, “And the octopus.” I asked him what octopus. He said, “over there in that water.”

I then explained how octopus don’t live in ponds and normally in the ocean. I told the story to my aunt and parents, who now ask my son how the octopus is doing. His responses vary from, “good,” “O.K.” to “yes”

  61. my 4 yr old was running in circles in my kitchen, i asked her what she was running from, and she said that beavers were chasing her. it was funny and she was having a great time.

  62. Both my children have very active imaginations – which is why your recent blog excited me to share some of their “tales” with you. My son, Griffith, is 5 1/2 and my daughter, Avalon, is 4. Every night we read books, and have begun reading books that the kids make with their dad/my husband during the day (he’s the stay-at-home parent). The recent “novel” my daughter shared – illustrations included – told a tale about our recent family vacation. In the story the imaginary characters have come to life and are a part of our family dynamics. Avalon is the “mother” to them, mimicing many of the interactions I have as a mom to her. It is very “truth-telling” to see this happen, as it has reinforced and confirmed many of the disciplines we instill in our children.

Both of our kids also enjoy imaginary play. Last year I took up running and recently ran my first marathon. I have begun to incorporate exercise/healthy activity into our family more. And, I continue working out daily. I came home last night to find their stuffed animals and dolls on my workout equipment (treadmill, aerobic step, and weights). They informed me that the animals/dolls were working out to prepare for their marathon. The kids did stretches with the toys similar to the ones I do, and were helping them get into shape.

It is heart-warming to know that the small changes I am making in my life, and in our family’s, to live a healthier lifestyle are being instilled into my kids.

  63. My son (27 months) just recently started telling his own stories. My dad tells him nursery rhymes that are a bit scary but my son loves it. So the other day he was telling me how “The big papa bear has big scary teeth. He lives in the dark and cold woods. It was freezing and snowy outside. The big papa bear can’t go night nights because he was sad someone ate his soup. And he was not going to eat Goldi-Locks because they were friends.” So funny. And he was very serious when he told me this story and did hand gestures and everything. Very cute!

  64. My 3 year old LOVES Marth!! I have to admit that I like the show too! My little guy LOVES playing “diggers” I am the mama digger and he is the baby digger and we have lots of work to get done during the day! :)

  65. Ahh my 4 year old Zane and 3 year old Gracie LOVE Martha speaks! In fact they were watching it when I saw a notification for this post :o )

  66. My 5-year old, Dylan, likes to watch the news “because he likes to know what’s going on the world” (his words, not mine” The other day he said to me: “Mommy, do you want another child?”. Me: “No, I don’t think so punkin’, you and your brother are the best kids we could ask for. I don’t think we are going to have any more. Dylan: “That’s too bad, because I saw on TV that there are lots of children who don’t have homes and need mommies and daddies and I thought we could get one, and make them happy”. Me: ” I love you, Dylan”. He has compassion beyond his years. And, he happens to love Martha (in fact, he’s watching it right now :)

  67. I have 5 young sons. The youngest are 4 and twins who are 2, so they are home watching PBS kids while the older boys are at school. My 4-yr-old, Joseph, has one wild imagination. He walks around like an old man with a cane. He climbs walls like spiderman. He and his brothers are walking commercials for toy companies. They are precious! Martha Speaks is one of their favorite shows and they LOVE the theme song. :)

  68. My two year old, Trinity, gets all of her stuffed bears and puppies and sets them up in a circle so that they can all have tea partys. She goes around the circle introducing them all to one another and shaking their paws. She always adds, “Nice meet you” after making a name up for each(that’s my favorite part!).

  69. My 2 1/2 year watches Martha with her Amma (Grandma) all the time. She keeps trying to get our Border Collie to talk to her. She asks her all the time “Genevivie – What you tink(think)? Then she asks why Genevivie will not answer her. She seems quite sure that the dog should answer her. Anytime the dog makes any noises Savannah asks me “What Genevivie say?”

  70. What great stories … and so much love for Martha! :) It’s giving us a warm & fuzzy feeling.

My own daughter (6 yrs-old) has the most amazing dreams … and she appears to enjoy them in full dolby sound (am I dating myself?) and techni-color, Blue-Ray style. What I love best about hearing her re-tell these nighttime adventures is the way her imagination picks up where her subconscious left off. As she relates the dream, I can watch the wheels turning & suddenly she’s off and running – embellishing, carrying the story into a whole new realm. I can sometimes remember how to see the world through those eyes … and it’s an amazing perspective.

  71. My 5 year old and 2 year old daughters just LOVE Martha speaks!

  72. My 5 year old daughter, Annali loves Martha and is always asking when our Boston Terrier Abbi will start to speak like Martha? But she was asked to write a story for Kung Fu one day and she spoke, as I wrote it down for her and this is the wonderful story she came up with…

The little frog said “what are you doing Big Frog?”
The Mama Frog said “hey little Baby Frog, what are you doing?”
The Papa Frog said, to the God Frog of their hearts “what are you doing Big Frog?”
And the God Frog of their hearts said to Baby Frog “hey, what are you doing?”
Baby Frog said “hey, what are you doing God Frog?”
And the largest frog in their world came and said to the Baby Frog “hey what are you doing?”

Then the Baby Frog played in her sandbox in her backyard.
Then she played in her froggy pool.
And then the Mama Frog got Baby Frog ready for bed, and read her a bed time story.
And in the morning Baby Frog woke up and asked the Mama Frog “hey is it morning?”
And Mama Frog said “yes it is.”

And then the Baby Frog got sick one time. She caught the Mama Frogs cold.
The Baby Frog went to school with her cold.
Then the Baby Frog got ALL better.

Then Baby Frog played ALL DAY in her sandbox, and with the butterflies she caught in her butterfly net, and put in her butterfly cage.
She released the butterflies and then went to bed.

The Baby Frog woke up in the middle of the night to take a drink of water, and did not want to go back to bed.
But, she did go back to bed cuddling with her teddy bear.
And in the morning when she woke up, she saw her teddy bear was on the floor.

  73. While grocery shopping with my girls (ages 6 & 3) a women started talking to them and then told me what cute kids I have, my 3 year old said excuse me I am not a kid I’m a young adult! The lady was cracking up and told her well I’m an old adult my daughter said no your a grandma :)

  75. We were trying to talk to my daughter about who had a mustaches (dad and grandpas) and who didn’t (mom and grandma). She said “I don’t have one either; we need to buy some smush-tashes, and some olibs (olives)”. Too cute!

  76. I have many hilarious comments from my own children….such as the time we were driving by a church as a Christening party was exciting and my 3 year old son asked my his Dad and I “Did you ever have me appraised like that?”
I think my favourite comes from my grandson though. He was 3 and having a sleepover at Nana’s. He approached my bed, looking all tousled and delicious as they do in their PJs in the morning, looked at me and very seriously said “Nana, will you buy me a baby?” When I asked why he wanted me to do that he replied “because I want to be big brother” Who knows where that idea came

  77. Dad(my husband) -”someone is not behaving”
    My five year says who?
    Dad- both of you
My three yr old- “oh! dad, you can only pick one.

  78. My little girl loves Martha! She runs around the house being a dog most of the day and night. She is very good now at running on all fours. When I had my youngest she cried and cried because she wanted him to be a talking dog! When she realized that wasn’t going to happen she wanted to know what we could please do to make ours talk or could she just be a dog! We love Martha and she has our DVR filled! Thank you so much for Martha Speaks!!!

  79. I was peeling an orange for my 3 year old daughter one afternoon and as I was peeling I must have made some funny face, so she proceeds to ask me, Mommy are you pooping your pants. I just about died! I said no , so she proceeds to tell me that I must be passing gas then. You never know what a little one might say.

  80. My 6 year old son came home from school one day and told me that one of the boys in his class said he wanted to be a fireman when he grew up, I said oh yeah, and he says but I’m pretty sure all he is going to be is a villian. I just cracked up, but he was so serious. I love what kids come up with.

  81. When my oldest son was five, he was playing “house” with my husband’s niece. When I went to check on them, I discovered my niece laying down and my son yelling “PUSH!!”. I was aghast, but knowing this particular role playing was probably my fault for subjecting him to too much of TLC’s A Baby Story, I gently told him that type of pretending wasn’t acceptable. To which my son replied, “It’s okay, Mommy. We pretended to get married first.”

  82. Let me just say our household LOVES Martha Speaks. Our 5yr. old daughter, Catie, tells us a new word/phrase/expression she has learned from Martha everyday! Right now she keeps telling me ‘no harm done’, “You know from Martha Mommy, it means it will be ok, no one got hurt.” It’s pretty much a running joke in our family that whatever she says it came from Martha Speaks. Thank you as a Mom and Teacher, we love Martha Speaks!

  83. This is too cute, I’m grinning ear to ear also!

  84. My 5yr old loves Martha Speaks. She has such a funny imagination she keeps me laughing most of the day. I don’t know what I will do when she goes to kindergarten this fall.
